3019 McNabb Street Stockton, CA 95209
Company 14’s Research
This fire station location was selected to provide coverage of an area of Stockton that had become one of the fastest growing residential areas of the 1990’s. This site also provided a more rapid response into an area of the former Lincoln Fire Protection District which contracted for the City of Stockton’s services on January 1, 1976. Future growth west of Interstate 5 and Eight Mile Road may also be served from this site until that growth necessitates an additional fire house.
The original street fronting the fire house was changed on September 9, 1994 from Havensweep Street to McNabb Street to honor Henry Duke McNabb. McNabb was the only Stockton firefighter, out of 25 that served in various branches of the military, not to return home from service in World War II.
Ensign McNabb lost his life on September 11, 1943 when the Allied Forces invaded Italy at Salerno. When the suggestion of the street name change was presented to the developer, Alex Spanos, he agreed and cooperated in facilitating the event.
The construction, design, and layout of Company 14’s is identical to that of the new Company 1’s on South Fresno Street and Company 5’s on Manthey Road.
